ALL AGES, ALL LEVELS

Whether you have a young child, at least four years old, or you are looking for lessons for yourself, David Kellen has worked with over 1000 students since 1991, showing the small child the joy of discovering sound, rhythm, using her fingers, to watching students become PhDs in Organ Performance, and a near finalist in the American Idol show. He has brought up real musicians, boys and girls who are now adults, making and teaching music. That says alot about his abilities as a music educator.

Studio K teaches people how to play everything: Classical, Country, Rock, Jazz, Christian, Sacred, and any substyle you can think. If it’s music, we can play it on the keys!

METHOD BOOKS, SUPPLEMENTAL BOOKS, ORIGINAL ARRANGEMENTS

At Studio K, we use the finest educational resources available. Books that are tested and help provide a solid foundation. He uses resources from Piano Adventures, The Alfred Premiere Course and many others. Classical, Jazz, Ragtime and Popular music are a part of every students' repertoire at Studio K Music. David has arranged hundreds of songs over the years and uses them with his students to make learning piano so much fun! He will also write an arrangement of a song just for you!

In case no one has told you, PIANO IS SUPPOSED TO BE FUN!!! It strengthens your brain and fingers and is a great way to release endorphins!

JAZZ PIANO INSTRUCTION

David Kellen is also a well known working pianist. He has played all over the Chicago area since 1986 and has played with some of the best musicians in town. He brings that experience into his teaching. Many of the areas junior high and high school jazz band players study with him. He teaches fundamental through advanced levels of improvisation, comping, playing & singing together, arranging and combo playing.

ORGAN STUDY

Studio K Music also offers private organ lessons. David Kellen is an accomplished organist with four decades of experience in church music and electronic and theater organ playing.

MIDI, ARRANGING, WRITING, RECORDING, TRANSCRIBING SERVICES

David is also very proficient at many of the other aspects of making music. These lessons and sessions are setup on an individual basis.
